The position is based out of our Enfield, CT headquarters and includes travel within Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and parts of New York. Regular use of our state-of-the art showroom is encouraged.  Additional travel includes occasional visits to customers, partners, prospects and events throughout North America.

 


Responsibilities


Primary efforts focus on the generation of sales, service and support of microscopes, measuring instruments, software for imaging and analysis, and sample preparation supplies and equipment.  You will also be expected to perform basic installation and technical support.


Your success hinges on effectively cultivating and fostering relationships, including:


  • Responding to inbound inquiries and requests from existing customers and active leads.
  • Assessing existing customer needs and historical activity to uncover new sales opportunities.
  • Proactively prospecting (internally and externally) to establish new connections.
  • Networking with customers and peers to build rapport and uncover industry insights.
  • Collaboration with the sales team and management to evaluate and address complex challenges.


Your daily activities are centered around:

 

  • Developing sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts.
  • Reviewing account and order activity to facilitate prospecting and sales opportunities.
  • Management and maintenance of established and prospective customers in our CRM system, ensuring the integrity of the data is accurate.
  • Scheduling and carrying out appointments, calls, presentations and meetings.
  • Conducting product and system demonstrations (in-person and at Excel’s showroom).
  • Preparing recommendations, proposals and estimates.
  • Finalizing and closing business opportunities.



As a member of our dynamic, growing sales organization, you will be supported in continuously improving technical knowledge and sales technique. Sales team members are encouraged to attend educational workshops and industry events, consume industry publications (online and offline) and participate in professional societies. Additionally, everyone on the team regularly joins in collaborative sales discussions, technical presentations, demonstrations and training.


Experience


This position is open to candidates with varying levels of  sales experience. However, a candidate with good technical aptitude and no sales experience will also be considered.  Please note, all new employees are provided comprehensive hands-on training and are supported by the management, back office and sales teams.


Candidates should demonstrate exceptional organizational, time management, prioritization, and networking skills and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word is expected and experience with enterprise software solutions (e.g. CRM) is a bonus.


Compensation
